"It continued to be the highlight of the year and the biggest happening in the parish. This break came in the middle of the harsh winter which was worse than ours. It was not unusual when snow was a few meters deep, and when the bitter cold lasted long periods. But the beginning of February was the market and a welcome change in the dark winter."
